The gloves are off as Spirit of Australia joins the international line up for Clipper 09-10.

The only southern hemisphere entry in this edition of the race, can Brendan Hall and his team recapture the Clipper Trophy won by Western Australia in Clipper 05-06 and take it back Down Under?

After an impressive start to the race keep up to date with the team’s progress in the diaries, videos and pictures the crew will be sending back from the boat.

Brendan Hall

Brendan Hall, 27, made sailing his full time career in 2006, originally planning to go in to the luxury superyacht sector. But, while he was doing some training at UKSA (United Kingdom Sailing Academy) he had something of an epiphany and ever since has been focussing on his goal of becoming a skipper in the Clipper Race.

30 May 2009 – crew allocation day – was the first time the crew of Spirit of Australia gathered en masse. They come from all walks of life - people like you who are getting ready to leave behind their normal lives and step outside their comfort zone to take on the challenge of a lifetime.
