Liverpool 08 and Glasgow: Scotland with style join the party in La Rochelle

20 September 2007

Clipper fleet crosses the start line in Liverpool

The crews of Liverpool 08 and Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper have joined the winning crew of Hull & Humber and Jamaica in La Rochelle this morning after finishing Race 1 in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Both crews were in high spirits after a night of motoring to La Rochelle to make it in time to lock in to the harbour to join the celebrations at the end of the first race.
Nova Scotia, skippered by Rob McInally, is also making her way into the harbour and is expected to be alongside by 12 noon local time (1000 GMT).
Durban 2010 and Beyond will be the next boat to arrive. They are currently 15 miles from the lock, and westernaustralia2011.com is approximately 5 miles behind the South African boat. Skipper Martin Silk is trying to keep his speed up to also make it in time for the lock in.
The crew barbeque scheduled for this evening has been postponed until Saturday night so that all the crews are able to attend. The four boats are now moored up in the Bassin des Chalutiers in the centre of La Rochelle where the crews are doing their deep cleans in the bright sunshine.
