You will join your race skipper and fellow team members on board the yacht on which you will race around the world.
After a few final preparations and drills all twelve brand new Clipper 70 race yachts will line up on a start line for a series of offshore races, in the weeks prior to the start date.
This course will enable you and your team mates to consolidate your sailing, seamanship and racing skills in an offshore racing environment and enable you and your skipper to develop your race team and boat in a realistic setting.
During the offshore races you and your crew will pit your skills against the other teams, racing day and night under the leadership of your skipper. Racing skills will be honed as you learn to live and race together, continuing your transformation into an ocean racing crew.
This course marks the beginning of your final race preparations. The main focus is on offshore racing skills and team development, however, you will also practice vital safety drills including medical evacuations, medical supply transfers, personnel transfers, fire drills and abandoning ship. All of these drills will become second nature and prepare you in case you need to call on them during the race.
