Clipper Training - Training Partner
The success of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race has been nothing short of incredible. Over 1,800 crew have taken part in the Clipper Race in the last eleven years.
This success has not just been for Clipper but also for all those who dared and achieved so much; especially those who started with no previous sailing knowledge and have finished as experienced sailors. The three-part training programme developed by Clipper Training has been the foundation of this success.
The three-part Clipper Training programme has been designed to prepare the Clipper Race crews for the rigors of ocean racing and is based on the experience gained from the previous five races. It is this close relationship between Clipper Training and the Clipper Race that has enabled us to develop such a successful and unique training scheme which is now available to everyone, whether they intend to participate in the race or not.
The same programme also forms three modules of the Operational Yacht Science Foundation Degree course at Falmouth Marine School. Clipper Training will be working in partnership with Falmouth Marine School to deliver modules of the Foundation Degree Course.
"Clipper Training prides itself on providing world class training in big boat sailing and racing. Its unique relationship with the Clipper Race has enabled it to gain an amazing insight into the training needs of non-professional sailors who wish to sail big boats. This insight has enabled us to expand the training that we offer to incorporate extra courses such as the Foundation Degree and shore-based safety courses. In doing so we are able to fully prepare all of our crews for any situation they may find themselves in whilst at sea, both during the Clipper Race and their own sailing adventures!"
James Allen, Head of Clipper Training
