Premier Shipping and Packing Ltd (PSP) has come onboard as the Official Logistics Partner for Clipper 09-10. As one of the leading freight forwarders in southern England, PSP will provide logistical support for the seventh edition of the Clipper Race.

Established in 1998 by managing director, Frank Dixie, PSP is a privately owned company which has gone from strength to strength and now has a division dedicated to boat transportation. PSP has wholly owned offices or joint ventures in the USA, Antigua, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Dubai, as well as offices in Fareham and Heathrow airport.

Over the last few years PSP has been raising its profile in the marine sector which has recently culminated in a three-year title sponsorship of the PSP Southampton Boat Show.

Frank says, "Our partnership with the Clipper Race will continue to increase our international exposure especially in Asia where we have just launched a joint venture with our long-term partners, Helka. As the Clipper fleet races around the world we look forward to activating our sponsorship in a number of new territories and forging new distribution channels."

Ensuring all the appropriate support equipment arrives in each port in time for the fleet’s arrival is a mammoth logistics operation and planning begins months in advance of the start of the race. PSP will provide and manage the freight of two containers which will leap frog each other around the route for the course of the ten-month challenge of a lifetime. The containers will be fitted out as mobile workshops, filled with essential spares to maintain the yachts at each stopover.

Clipper Race chairman, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, says, "To have the support of such a well-known and highly experienced company like PSP is wonderful news. What goes on behind the scenes in organising an event such as ours is often overlooked but plays a vital role to ensure the race is a success."
