The tropical paradise is the number one travel destination for the Americas, tourists drawn to the white sand beaches and crystal waters.

Inland, lush rain forests and fertile valleys are home to sugar and banana plantations, while the Blue Mountains of Jamaica boast production of some of the finest coffee in the world.

Many of the Caribbean islands show evidence of the European influences exerted on them by settlers who headed there after the discovery of the West Indies by Christopher Columbus, who believed he’d found a westerly route to the Indies in Asia. French, Dutch, Danish, Portuguese and British settlers have all left their mark.

Previous editions of the Clipper Race have visited Port Antonio in Jamaica, and Nassau in The Bahamas.
