Undoubtedly the conditions will be massively testing and crews must endeavour to stay on the express-way between light airs to the north and rapidly-deteriorating weather conditions to the south. If you get it right you’ll see exactly what the Clipper 68s are made of as they surf at more than 25 knots on waves bigger than buildings.
You must tread the fine line between pushing the boat as hard as you can and making sure you don't damage your sails in the punishing conditions of the Southern Ocean.
Barbecues, beers, perfect beaches and wall-to-wall sunshine await the fleet in Western Australia where you and your fellow crew will enjoy Christmas and welcome in 2010 before setting off on Leg 4.
