Here to race
13 May 2008
We are here to race!! And that we have done in style! 1800miles but then lost the wind, then another 1400miles with a combination of sail and “the Donkey” (the engine as it is affectionately known) during this time, life on board this little village on water goes on, time for relaxing, especially good for the Round The Worlders after some very traumatic times, a bit of sunbathing even fitted in! But we have also been doing some maintenance on the Hull & Humber, especially in preparation for the next race and everyone is fully involved, that is what this boat is all about, teamwork! BOB has now had a deep clean to save time in Panama, time is something we do not have a lot of, that is why the whole fleet of 10 clippers started running low on fuel! Then came our reward!!! Clipper Ventures arranged a fuel stop in Costa Rica, Golfito to be exact, we arrived at 5am boat time, dawn, to the first sight of land in 20 days, the aroma of lush rain forests, stepping back in time to this very small village in Banana Bay, unfortunately we could not leave the boat but the locals brought us freshly brewed coffee and by arrangement fresh fruit & vegetables and a BEER!!! Then the girls screamed with delight! Ice cream cones! Vanilla at first then Chocolate! You really do not appreciate life until you experience something like I am experiencing on this once in a lifetime adventure, this fuel stop was very special to me and Bullit of course as you can see in the photograph! Now we are well on our way to Panama, arriving tomorrow evening.
If you want the experience of a lifetime do have a go at this Clipper adventure, like me, you will not be disappointed!
Love to all, keep up that support for this the Hull & Humber!

So near yet so far!
I am not far from Panama, I have missed you all but I am about to sail from Columbia to Panama in a little more relaxed style and Ì`ll be 5 days too late! I have even met some folks at the yacht club here who know you Danny Watson!!
Well done, thinking of you all.
