Return of the ancient maniac
27 April 2008
Here we go again!
It seemed like the beginning of a holiday when I got to Santa Cruz. No boat in sight! However, after frantically leaping up and down at the end of the breakwater waiting to welcome the Big Orange Boat in, I soon got back into the deep clean and the holiday came to an end! Nevertheless, great to be back on board and catching up with RTWs and getting to know new leggers. Looks like girl power on this leg!
Now, after the excitement of head winds all the way to Qingdao, I am getting back into spinnaker work and the challenge of keeping the boat going as the winds get lighter and we move to the lightweight spinney. The weather is hotting up and the white legs are appearing once again!
Any doubts about boat hijacking or pirate boarding have been put to rest as we discover secret agent De Caff is always alert, keeping watch at the end of the pole! His secret weapon of daily hugs for all the crew ensures loyalty to the cause and commitment to objective. His constant demands for buckets of food to be hoisted up pole may yet prove to be his undoing and a coup has not been ruled out.
