Storming along
27 September 2007
Excellent night watch, no problems this time round, everything went well whilst we a poled out head sail. Now with the heavy weight spinnaker patched up and ready to go we launched her once again just after breakfast, now storming along, with great speed and pride. Sam went up the mast again, to go fix the Windex, and Fred went up to do a rig check, and no problems where found. After all what we have been through in the last couple of days, the crew moral is still fantastic and we are all taking it in turns to learn to helm, with Danny’s tuition.
After finding we lost first place, even though expecting it through the problems we had early hours Wednesday, it was good to hear we have managed to sneak back into first place even though it is only by one mile, but hopefully this will increase.
Finding diesel in the bilges on the way to La Rochelle, and scrubbing them clean, we still seem to be getting diesel in there, but can’t find were it is coming from, which means a mass search when we arrive in Salvador.
At this present time we are enjoying nice weather, even though it has only just clouded over in the last hour. But the boat is still moving well, and looking forward to more of the same sort of weather for the rest of the trip.
And the porridge was good for breakfast!

Guys great work with that yucky spinnaker, looked a real mess from the Video. Sam sounds as if he is truely becoming a foredeck monkey, not to mention Danny’s inverted antics. None of this seems to have got in the way of the positions though and thirlled to see you still in the top two with only a mile or so in it. Once you get into those trades you should really be flying. Sending you all fair winds and virtual kit kat’s at they seemed to help.

well done everyone, for getting that spinnaker unwrapped! everyday someone new comes into my office who doesn’t know about the website, or the race, so we are recruiting new viewers every day to keep up with Hull and Humber’s progress. isabelle

Well done Hull and Humber, so glad all is well.
All the gang at MacDermid is routing for you all, especially for Stephen Osborne.
Enjoy the weather as it is raining here.

Recalling the porridge you made for breakfast last year in Kinlocleven, one assumes that someone other than your good self made the porridge!
Hope you and the crew are all OK and good see you doing so well.
