Trying to hang on
27 May 2008
Another day on starboard tack and another day chasing half the fleet.
The wind has kept up so we are still averaging 10-11 knots, meaning we are all still getting very wet every time we check the trim on the bow!! Spirits are still high even with some crew suffering from sea sickness.
I had forgotten how much energy is taken up just trying to move around the boat when it is heeled over as much as it is. Wherever you sit, stand or lay you are using most of the muscles in your body to stay there without falling over or slipping around!! (Try getting in the top bunk on the high side without rolling off on the first couple of attempts!! – it ain’t that easy!!)
The heat is still here! – Above and below deck!! Once again the ice-cream dream comes back to mind and thinking of this I know I can’t wait to sail in to New York past the Statue of Liberty!!
So New York here we come, just a few more days and I can maybe go shopping for some jimmy choo shoes!! (Or maybe just window shopping.)
Hope all is well with everyone everywhere, and just to let you know I’m still loving it!!
Lots of love to all Nat xx
P.S One last message – HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY DAD from all of us here on Hull & Humber hope you had a great day. Sorry I couldn’t be there I’ve been a little busy trying to hang on!! See you soon! Love and kisses!
