“Very little wind to play with!”
17 June 2008
In the evening of Day 2 of Race 13 the fog is starting to lift and we can see at least a couple of the clipper fleet. After a day of cold wind, damp fog and lots of sail changes (not a lot of sleep) it has warmed up slightly this afternoon with the sun trying to peek through some blue sky. However there is very little wind to play with!
An observation was made by one of our crew in the early hours which was quite amusing:- “I have just realised that the coffee grinder is actually two winch handles but just used side ways!” ??!!(hello!!)??!!
Needless to say the crew member was someone who had not had very much rest /sleep before these words came out of their mouth!!
With the flat sea state at the moment we are still whale and dolphin watching as well as lobster pot dodging.
We are just wishing and hoping for a little bit more wind to take us across the Atlantic a little bit faster. However getting to Cork means we are a few days off being home and race finish, which feels very bizarre!!?!
Soooo, BOB is still bobbing and the crew still smiling! Lots of fun to be had! I’ll see everyone in Cork!
Lots of love and hugs Nat xx
