It doesn’t get much better than this

A few of my favourite things…
Sharon helming on course whilst dancing to the music. Justyn covering the first hour of our shared mother watch. An e-mail from home. Aidan ever present, everywhere and always willing to help. A fine red wine. Al’s pizza, from scratch. V’s freshly baked bread, from scratch. Ice cream. Fish and chips at the pub. Tony’s positive attitude and hard work. Perfect spinnaker trim against a blue sky. Bob’s pictures of his trees. Orange juice. Visiting the school children at St. Michael’s in Liverpool. Dolphins. Barry on the grinder with me, my arms just along for the ride. My new grandson, Micah. Saturn’s brilliance in the night sky. French toast with cinnamon. Dave announcing, “Dave on deck”. Shade. A fresh breeze, below decks. Sailing with my brother. Jerry fixing (insert name of boat part) that we’ve broken. Clean hair. Nate’s joy sitting at the end of the spinnaker pole. JR’s wit and wisdom, he makes me laugh and smile everyday (good luck Kate). All my new Clipper friends as they have already expanded my view of the world. A real shower. A cold pint with my mates. A spinnaker repair, when it is finished. The support of Gary’s family and friends, especially Ed (please check the rain gutters and moss) and Pattie, Sarah, Celeste, Karrington, his daughters Kristina and Michelle, son-in-law Danny, baby Micah, mom (world’s best) and wife, Linda, without whom this adventure would not be possible.

Hey Gary, congratulations for living out your dream! Dick Burke told me about the web site and your participation, so I passed it along to a few old “II” friends. We will be watching and cheering for you. Enjoyed your blog!!

EC was kind enough to spread the word about your circumnavigation race. I’m so envious - you get to experience this awesome adventure on the open ocean with the wind in your face, while we, the less fortunate, work at our jobs and only dream about what you’re doing. Now that I know what you’re up to, I’ll be following your progress and rooting for you and your team.
Wishing you smooth, fast and safe sailing!

Yo New York-
Keep up the good progress. TC I argue over whether you are looking forward more to the pint or the shower. Fortunately, you’ll get both very soon.

gutter… check; moss… check (as much as that’s possible in seattle). I look forward to the latest Clipper “New York” news and share your dreams and adventure through you. Welcome to LAND!!! I hope you’re ready for it!

Hi all
Bet you are all looking forward to a cold beer when you get into port. Wish we were there to buy you all one!
