After a day of settling in to motor sailing towards Panama, the crew of Nova Scotia made good use of their time. Of course before any good day can begin, one must start off with a refreshing dip in the great big blue.
Feeling refreshed, all hands busied themselves with the various tasks to maintaining a yacht.
Nic put the finishing touches on his “Cobra” windsock, Rick stripped and cleaned all the winches, Rob scrubbed the cooker within an inch of its life. Chris started the rig inspection, Kate put some TLC into our 1.5 oz. spinnaker, and Sue did some sewing repair to our Nova Scotia banner.
Much to our surprise when we all took a moment to chill out, we noticed a new addition to our crew. Perched confidently on the starboard bow, was a young seabird. He was quite unperturbed if anyone passed nearby, and as the sun sets on another day, our guest is still riding the bow like a figurehead.
Libby and I are just about ready to dish out some beef stew with baked potato. With the heat of the day slowing receding, the temperature in the galley is now bearable. But the time we spend sweating in the galley, will only make the cool refreshment awaiting us in Panama all that much more satisfying.
See you on the water.
