Sailing again and loving it!
06 April 2008
Hawaii was fantastic and a much longer stay than we had originally
anticipated. We were moored at the Magic Island Fuel Depot where we were given an amazing welcome and looked after brilliantly by everyone there. Idyllic evenings chilling out on their deck, watching the sun go down and listening to their music was very special. Many thanks to everyone we met there and at the Hawaii and Waikiki Yacht clubs.
We were in Hawaii for so long that a bird had time to makes its nest
complete with an egg nestled in the life buoys!
Some crew took the opportunity to enjoy other islands, volcano watching and others learnt to dive and to surf. Nova Scotia crew have never looked so fit and healthy.
We wish Dave McPhee a speedy recovery and hope that he can join us again in Santa Cruz. We welcome back Kate Wyse who has recovered from her back injury and also welcome Dan Monk to the crew for this race. All 3 are round the worlders.
Nova Scotia were immediate race leaders, crossing the start line some
distance ahead of the rest of the other yachts. We were delighted to see Durban 2010 and Beyond out on the water urging us all on and hope that they and westernaustralia2011.com complete their repairs quickly and join us in Santa Cruz. It will have been very hard for these crews to watch the rest of the fleet go ahead without them.
Thank you all for such a brilliant stopover.
We are sailing again and loving it!

You are obviously having a great time. Having met Dan during training last August I am delighted to hear that he is back on board for the rest of the world- you are lucky to have him! Good luck and keep safe, Anne
