Crew Blog

17 Tage auf See German edition

04 October 2007

Today’s blog from Glam watch comes from the international side of our team, and goes out to all our German fans. Klaus, aka ‘The Machine’, is our watch’s star helmsman and when he sees another Clipper ahead he goes out to get them.

PS. SLAM watch ‘best in show’ results will be announced on Monday, time extended due to massive response.

7. Steve Pang, Ohio, USA 06 October 2007

England beat Australia 12-10. THAT’S THE BADGER!! Marcus - How’s that for a birthday present ??? - Pirate

8. Butty & Jo, Polperro, Cornwall,UK. 06 October 2007

Marcus! No doubt you have heard, but just in case you have not.. Australia 10 England 12. Fantastic game, Great result, swing low sweet chariot, bring it on!!

9. Derren, Colchester,UK 06 October 2007

Here is a translation courtesy of babel fish (some words must be local dialect to Klaus as they don’t translate easily);

“Since leaving Liverpool some 17 sea-days have passed, to which so much has happened, how it experiences otherwise a Cruiser Segler in its entire sail career. Strong hoist directly after the start, helicopter rescue after tree precipitation??, transverse impact of our 46 tons ship, 3 infinitely long days in the calm air between the Canaries, fantastic sun up and fall, asterisk-clear warm nights in Shorts and t-Shirt at the rudder, rice, noodles and Kartoffelpueree in the daily change. For some one of the 15 men crew too much the good one. But one gets accustomed to so quite everything, particularly since the next stop Salvador is distant still more for than 2000 Nm. To step out does not go. One imagined first Atlantic crossing nevertheless somehow something of savages. Also the word Racing got a new meaning for some, if the maximum speed did not exceed 3 on some days kn. However - in good, as in bad days - our crew fights for a podium place and as is good things that we rank Salvador among the first three. There is actually only one which is missing - a German yacht - perhaps “Berlin” Round the World 09-10.”

In summary I’d say “One exciting experience”.

Good luck to all and ‘Happy Birthday Chocolate-Tin” from your ex-CWO. Try and catch up with you when you get back to Blighty next July.

Hi Crewmates
Just returned home from Part B, Hmm that was a different experience!! Just wished I had been with you all. As I was out of circulation I wasn’t able to wish The Badger a Happy Birthday or give him a bottle that he gave me in Liverpool. I will make up for it in Jamaica.
It is still addictive watching your every move so keep up the good work but travel safe
God speed
Mole

Hello Marcus - Happy Birthday - a couple of days late but earlier than your birthday wishes usually come! By the way you missed one hell of a rugby game - it was fantastic - a jump around the bar job as it was so close - the Aussies were devastated - shame! France - New Zealand was also a cracker in fact this weekend has produced the most exciting rugby I have seen in ages. Shame you missed it and a nice cold beer to watch it with! Anyway come on Qingdao - keep up the good work and work those sails - work it, work it you’re perfect!!!!
