Getting into the groove

Uniquely Singapore
30 September 2007
After seven days at sea and with the majority still unshowered, aside from face to face battling with the elements each time we do a headsail change, we are nearing the Canaries. With an ever depleting supply of wet wipes (and more importantly hot chocolate!) and still two weeks from Salvador, the crew of Uniquely Singapore remain in fantastically high spirits!
Following Tuesday’s little mishaps, we have now near enough completed our repairs, thanks primarily to Angie and Marlena who spent many an hour hunched over the spinnaker stretched from bow to stern below deck! Unfortunately, our trusty sewing machine was unable to live up to the challenge of 60 feet of cloth so we must now wait for Salvador with anticipation - these things are sent to test us!
In the meantime, we are now once again merrily progressing through the fleet, and as such have appointed a DIC (Director of Internal Communications), Michelle Fanneran. She is enthusiastically encouraging regular transfer of race data to increase awareness and motivate the crew. Uniquely Singapore is in the groove!! (No thanks to the music battles between Take That fan Daniel Pursey and Cuban funkster Howard Mitchell!)
