Ever since we set off from Santa Cruz and started to head south, we have been sailing downwind for the past 11 days. Our spinnaker changes and gybes are getting more slick and fast, but this should come as no surprise given the number of spinnaker changes and gybes we have been doing.
All’s well onboard Uniquely Singapore, the temperature is getting more “Singapore like” and we are all down to t-shirts and shorts with lots of sun block applied, and free flow of juice on deck to keep the crews cool.
And for the first time since my army days 11 years ago, I got a crew cut and our boat has been doing really well since, climbing from fourth to first place! We are not counting our chickens yet. The race is still wide open and it’s only 20 miles between first and fifth place. We are pushing on, and hopeful of a good finish.
Greetings to all back home, esp the Singaporean and Asean crews that I have sailed with, and those joining us for leg 7.

“ 8th May “ Good effort Uniquely Singapore, not sure of your finishing position, race news has only issued provisional top three places. In fact I’m not sure you’ve finished.
“ Gate Angel “ !!!! obviously means everything to you racers, but nothing to us, well me.
Anyway, Very exciting Leg, enjoyed loging in every morning following your progress & sharing your frustrations. Something to celebrate though, if my adding up is correct, and finishing positions are correct, Uniquely Singapore has gone up one place in overall placing
Well done all. Still another 50 points out there for the taking. Good luck.
Message to skipper Mark. Thinking of you. love Dad.
