Moving up the leaderboard
30 April 2008
Having returned on leg 6 after completing leg 1, I am struck by how much our RTW’s have changed, all more relaxed, confident and proficient. Once again it is a pleasure to be aboard Uniquely Singapore, which is still a friendly, all inclusive boat and having won the last race, moving up the leader board! Michele F, Jurgen and myself watched from the committee boat as Uniquely Singapore crossed the finish line first and observed with pleasure (and 5 cameras around my neck) as the crew huddled for photos and a huge ‘yom sing’ in front of the winners pennant.
The first five days have involved mostly spinnaker sailing, with everyone taking a turn at helming, as always. The weather is gradually warming up, although today we were quickly enveloped from all sides by fog, cocooning us in our own eerie world for several hours.
Well as I return to my bunk, I do so happy and content in my new temporary home, confident that as we move up the leader board in this race, I may, fingers crossed be joining my friends on the other side of the camera in a few days time!
Love to all my family and friends xx
