Thank you, Singapore
29 January 2008
Thank you, Singapore. We arrived a week ago to a spectacular reception at the new Marina at Keppel Bay where all the boats had their moment of fame. For us on Uniquely Singapore it was particularly special, especially for those in the crew who live in Singapore, and we celebrated our arrival late into the night.
During the week we’d had lots of opportunities to sample the sights and sounds of our host city. It’s an incredible place and we took advantage of the variety of shops and the restaurants available. It’s just coming up to Chinese New Year and Chinatown was decked out in preparation for welcoming in the Year of the Rat.
Some of us also managed to take a cycling trip on one of the near by islands, visit the zoo and go wake-boarding amongst the mangroves. Thanks to Desmond for sorting out the boarding and also to Kevin for his patience in teaching us and getting me to actually stand up and “Look at the boat!”
We left Singapore on Sunday to another great fanfare, with Chinese dancing lions to send us on our way. Once again, thank you, Singapore and I hope to be back in the not too distant future.
