The heat is on

The last few days saw ever increasing temperatures above and below deck. Nighttime on deck provided no real relief of those tropical temperatures.

Needless to say, the galley is the steamiest of all places. I warned my crewmates that the food might be too salty as the perspiration was dripping off the end of my nose most of the time.

We crossed the finish line yesterday evening and celebrated the evening in true Uniquely Singapore style.

For the evening dinner party we had hired the well known outside catering service ‘Chez B et J’ (Baz and Jurgen for all of you non French speakers out there) who provided Chinese tuscan pork avec pommes de terre purree de Idaho (some non descript white powder out of a red box) followed by a choice of chocolate or apple pancakes avec crème anglaise and fruit cocktail (out of a tin if you must know).

Appropriate for the occasion B et J were modelling a brand new range of marine clothing designed to mark the occasion. You will appreciate from the attached photograph that this will indeed rock the fashion world when designers will catch a first glimpse of this sensational summer 08 fashion.

In particular I would like to point out the totally new design of the ‘surgibra’ using just two simple surgical masks tied together to provide the support that is required easy to assemble totally disposable and biodegradable and doubles as a face mask for emergency surgery at sea. This ingenious piece of clothing was designed by our very own up and coming fashion guru Boo Miao Chuin that we are lucky enough to have as a crewmember.

One day on from this hectic party night, it is now down to motoring 24/7 down to Panama carrying out essential and routine maintenance as we go.
