Two bottles of fairy liquid

13 March 2008

Midway Island

I was told when I set out on this bizarre adventure that it would change me, no, I said, I was too old and set in my ways to change, but here I am today excited by finding not 1 but 2 extra bottles of washing up liquid!!

What is happening to me, I have emails from my girl friends in Perth telling me about lunches, coffee, cinema and theatre and here I am with my trusty battered coffee plunger, movies on my ipod and living in a “Comedy of Errors”!

As you may have gathered I am cooking for this leg of the race (and loving the challenge) and therefore cannot be held responsible for the havoc the boys and girls have caused to the upstairs of the poor BBB.

Due to the rearranging of the upstairs we now have to use the engine, (very noisy, but at least the kitchen stays in one place) and for some reason we do not have enough fuel, so have to make an unscheduled stop to some place called Midway, where I gather there are no shops or cappuccino strip let alone a cinema.

This stopover will make us late getting into Hawaii, therefore I was going to run out of washing up liquid (most important for a girl washing up for 12, 3 times a day in cold sea water) and while looking for something else, eureka, I found a stash of not only 1 but 2 new bottles. I thought all my Christmases had come at once, so much so I sent and email to my sister telling her of my excitement!!

I await her reply!!

Excited dear? I was well nigh orgasmic wink) Bet they don’t print this!!
Keep on going on and remember I am a size 8 (British) for nylons, with seams obviously, but I do not want Herschy bars wink)
Take care all of you, enjoy the U.S hospitality and bring on Jamaica!!  xxxxxxxxxx

Billy, you are obviously making the absolute most of the situation; finding anything stored thats been forgotten about must be like finding gold...shame you didn’t stumble across a spare rig and a team of boat repairers behind the bottles wink

Mum, Zoe had a fab birthday and is a very popular young lady at fellow ankle-biter (sorry toddler) parties! Bel’s had another scan and is fine and alls well with us all. Oh, did i say i’m so very proud of and awed by you?! love you to bits xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

BBB crew, so glad you’re nearly there - Midway looks stunning so hopefully you’ll get a concentrated dose of r&r;cos you’re not gonna get much in Hawaii! But i know you’d rather be knackered and racing cos thats what its all about. Wishing you all a wonderful time and looking forward to pics/vids and blogs!

Hi BBB and Eileen, glad you are all keeping your spirits up, though Billy you could have a problem getting soo excited over washing up liquid!! Anyway, keep smiling and look out for each other. Eileen dont worry about meeting me in US, it doesnt look like you will make it before I have to return to UK. I will keep checking your progress anyway. Love you sis XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Best wishes to all on the BBB on your way to Hawaii.  What a team!  Sorry to hear that things are not going as you might wish but the thrill of the adventure is what it’s all about - and you’ve had plenty of that.  Memories for a lifetime!

Louise - I’m so sorry I just found out what happened… it sounds like you all kept your spirits up and are safe… hopefully the rest of your leg will be less eventful!
Gill, Anna & I all got your cards from Qingdao - it prompted me to look you up and I’m glad I did - I’ll be tracking you more closely from now on!
Big love from me, the greenroom folks and James.
Safe trip to Hawaii. John xxx
