Well 41 hours into the race, it is the usual story of good news and bad news.
The good good news is that the last sked shows us in front by one mile. We have been watching the sails and lights of Durban & H&H seemingly since the start, and it has been a long slow trimming battle to peg them back. The wind has generally been kind, so there have only been a couple of sail changes. The main has been up and down a few times.
The bad bad news is that our seapro computer has died. (Drips of diesel and computers don’t mix.) This leaves us without our full navigation system, and limited ability to upload weather forecasts into our route planning system. The good news on that is Marty & Roger think they can get it up and working on a laptop.
Good news is we can see the coast of Spain, and look forward to heading south soon.
Other good news is Chris has discovered “patches”, and managed a great job as mother last night. The bad news is that Billie is not, but Dr Shane (himself a bit queasy) is treating her, so she should be fully recovered soon.
Good news and bad news is Jack has lost his voice. We get a bit of peace and quiet, but unfortunately lose his drive during evolutions, where he stars.
And my boots got filled again.
