Take part in Hamilton Island Race Week with Clipper Ventures Australia

The Clipper Race is offering the chance to race in the Whitsundays in Queensland, Australia, as part of Hamilton Island Race Week.

The regatta is one of Australia’s favourite yachting events and has an exciting on-water and off-water carnival.

For the first time, Clipper Ventures will be entering its Sydney-based Clipper 68s in the Hamilton Island Race Week 2014 after opening its new Australia base at the end of 2013. Past crew and crew signed up for 2015-16 Clipper Race that have completed their level 1 training course are being invited to take part.

The package includes 1 day training and six days racing. Breakfast and lunch is included each day and you can stay on the yacht for the duration of the event.

The itinerary is:

15 August 2014                   Crew to arrive in Hamilton Island, Queensland

16 August 2014                   1 day familiarisation sail

17 – 23 August 2014          6 day races (Wednesday 20 August is a lay day for competitors to enjoy shore-based events)

24 August 2014                   Crew departure from Hamilton Island

The total cost of the package is AUD$4500 (incl GST) / £2500 (incl VAT). For those wishing to do the delivery to and/or from Hamilton Island, this is included in the package.

Please note that this does not include travel to and from the boat, visas or incidentals. 

Hamilton Island has its own commercial airport, so accessing Hamilton Island is easy with short, daily direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns and excellent connections from other Australian cities.

Feeling like a week at sea or want to build up some sea miles before embarking on the 15-16 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race? 

If you do not want to join us for Hamilton Island Race Week, you can join on for the delivery to and/or from Hamilton Island. This is an exclusive offer open to past crew only or crew signed up for 15-16 Clipper Race that have completed their level 1 training course. 

Itinerary – Delivery Sydney to Hamilton Island:

6 August 2014                      Estimated departure from Sydney, Australia (weather dependent)

13 - 14 August 2014           Arrival at Hamilton Island

15 August 2014                   Delivery crew not competing in Race Week to depart the yachts. 

Itinerary – Delivery Hamilton Island to Sydney:

24 August 2014                   Delivery crew can join yachts

25 August 2014                   Estimated departure from Hamilton Island (weather dependent)

1-2 September 2014          Estimated arrival in Sydney
