Clipper Race homecoming in London this July

Clipper Race homecoming in London this July

Get amongst the action as the twelve Clipper Race teams storm into central London to complete their 40,000 mile odyssey on Saturday 12 July 2014.

With 15,110 miles to go to the finish, central London’s only marina – St Katharine Docks is already planning the homecoming of the race and the capital will welcome the teams home as the boats parade up the Thames between 10am to 3pm on Saturday.

During that time, a race village will create a carnival atmosphere with live music, DJs, drummers, dancers and international cuisine.

Entry is free to the Race Village which will be open from 0900 – 1800 on Saturday 12 July and 1000 - 1700 on Sunday 13 July.

The entirely amateur crews have battled ferocious storms, dealt with medical emergencies on board and witnessed Mother Nature at its most impressive during their extraordinary journey.

Legendary British sailor, Clipper Race Founder and Chairman, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston said: “The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is a real jewel in the crown of international sailing, the only race in the world that takes everyday people and turns them into ocean racers.

“We hope Londoners will join in the spirit again after last year’s wonderful Thames celebrations and support this world class British event by coming down and welcoming home these courageous adventurers on return from  their epic voyage of discovery.”

Soon you will have the chance to order front row seats to see the fleet parade home along the Thames from on the water and under the iconic Tower Bridge.

The official spectator boats will offer friends, family and race followers a unique chance to see the arrival of the Clipper Race fleet from St Katharine Docks.

The spectator boats will be leaving from three locations close to St Katharine Docks, where the Clipper Race yachts will berth. Keep an eye on the news page for ticket release.
