Clipper Race team head to San Francisco

Once again a team from the Clipper Race will be travelling to San Francisco this month in search of intrepid adventurers ready for the challenge of taking on the 40,000-mile race.

The team, including Crew Recruitment Manager David Cusworth, will be travelling to the Bay Area to build upon the strong number of Americans who have already participated in the world’s longest yacht race.

“The San Francisco Bay area is renowned for sailing and adventure and we’ve always enjoyed the stopovers here during the Clipper Race,” explains David.

“Since the race’s inception we have had close to a hundred American crew members as well as a yacht entry representing New York. We’ve previously had yacht entries from California so there’s always been a strong audience and relationship here.

“Our visit to the area will hopefully grow the appetite for the race in terms of crew recruitment as well as any potential stopover plans.”

The Clipper 11-12 Race enjoyed a successful stopover in Oakland and a similar level of success is hoped for within San Francisco Bay area during the next edition of the race.

David, a round the world crew member during the Clipper 2002 Race, will be holding presentations in the San Francisco Bay area from 24 February to 1 March for anyone interested in taking part in the Clipper Race.
