Race the 70th Rolex Sydney Hobart 2014 on a Clipper 68

The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race was one of the most memorable races of the Clipper 2013-14 edition with the fleet competing in the Australian offshore classic for the first time.

This December, two Clipper 68s will race in the 70th event again and ex-crew are able to take part and relive the moment.

And 2015-16 crew signed up can join as long as they have done their Level 1 training course.

The race is one of the world’s most famous yacht races and sees the fleet of around 100 yachts leave Sydney Harbour to large crowds of spectators on Boxing Day.

Organised by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, some of the yachting world's most famous and fast boats compete.

The package includes six days training out of the Clipper Ventures Australia Sydney base, and the return journey back from Hobart to Sydney if crew wish.

The itinerary is:

16 – 23 December 2014                  Training (on-the-water & shore-based)

24 – 25 December                           Days off!

26 December                                   Race start, Sydney

29-30 December                              Estimated arrival date in Hobart

2 January 2015                                Estimated departure from Hobart

6- 8 January 2015                            Estimated arrival in Sydney

The total cost of the package is £4,600 (incl VAT) / AUD$8,300 (incl GST).

Please note that this does not include travel to and from the boat, visas or incidentals.

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, chairman and founder of the Clipper Race, took part last year on CV10, one of the Sydney-based Clipper 68s.

He said: “There’s a great atmosphere in the build-up to and during the Sydney Hobart Race, as well as at the party at the other end for New Year's Eve.

“To have done the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is an experience all our crews now cherish so it is great to be able to offer the chance again.”

The option to do all or part of Levels 1, 2 or 3 training in sunny Australia is also now available for crew signed up for the 2015-16 race.
