The mood has changed swiftly from one of frustration to fear! The only way I can describe it as is genuine warfare. A battle is on our hands and survival is now our primary objective. I have never witnessed power quite like it. The waves are ferocious, unforgiving and incredibly frightening.
Equipment that is typically very strong is being wrenched from the welding that secured it to the deck. People are being tossed around like rag dolls as Mother Nature really begins to kick up a fuss.
Injuries and problems are occurring across the fleet and it is those that can survive this onslaught and come out with their boats and more importantly, crew, in one piece that will perform well in this race.
This race is like something I have never seen before. It tests you physically, mentally and emotionally. These last 36 hours have been some of the hardest of my life and just trying to stay motivated is a major battle. Give up and hide is one option or persevere, face it head on and battle it out is the other.
Team GREAT Britain is a boat of warriors andIi know you will see us still going strong and fighting until the end.
Keep up the support, it means more than you could ever realise.
