So the last 24 hours has brought more great sailing and challenging helming conditions. Even without our spinnaker up and our poled out Yankee up, the boat managed to reach speeds of up to 25 knots (Record held by Alan) which has meant we have done around 250nm over the past 24 hours.
For me, helming in the dark has unleashed my inner speed freak, causing Chris at one point to shout 'Ride 'em cowboy' as we surfed down a massive wave at around 20 knots (my current personal best!). However, I can't help but feel this is only a warm up for the Southern Ocean when all our helming skills will really be tested.
Since the spinnaker came down, we have been able to get a bit more sleep, but this afternoon the Code 2 has gone back up, so as I have been on mother today, my long awaited full night of sleep will be interrupted by loud grinding as the trimmers work their course trying to gain ground on the competition! :)
