72 hours into the race and the crew of Qingdao is settling into the routine nicely.
Our race position seems decent enough but we are all aware that it is very early days. Team spirit is fantastic, which will stand us in good stead over the days and weeks to come. Highlights so far include hitting over 18 knots surfing, Justin's bread-making expertise, finding Dawn's shoe at the bottom of a spinnaker being wooled and George's live BBC radio interview this morning.
Only real low-light is we managed to tear our code 3 spinnaker in the small hours of this morning in lumpy seas, after our tack line dragged in the sea. Cue much frustration all-round, and more than the odd swear word! Still the two watches are sharing repair duties and the sewing machine is whirring away as I type. She will fly again soon! Supper tonight is chicken penne pasta, with a nice glass of Chianti...no wait just orange again! Qingdao JIAWOU!
