Bucket wash a la southern Atlantic

Roaring 40’s here we are. We sailed in these latitudes for the past days, but now it even looks like them. Hauling winds, the sea state got higher and still freezing. But no penguins so far!

Suddenly the pressure dropped a little quicker than we wished yesterday evening and we performed a challenging sail plan adjustment! Helming during this, I got a little wet and tired but everything was fine and with a great dinner I felt happy to warm up in my sleeping bag for three hours. At midnight it was time again to put on my wet kit and get ready for our four hour night watch. It was pitch black and waves hit the boat sideways from time to time. The spray coming over the boat felt like somebody throwing buckets of cold water over you and soon my hands were freezing on the wheel. Sailing a boat in these seas sometimes feels a little like driving a rally car, bumpy. Being half time in our night watch our great Skipper Guy surprised us with hot chocolates to go, which were absolutely fantastic and warmed us perfectly. Thank you Guy, you are awesome!

Dare To Lead is a wet home to live in right now, but we are all fine and our daily routines go the usual way.

Have a great and dry day all!
