I may not know what day it is but I do know where I am! This watch system gets you all confused- well it gets me confused as at the start of one morning's watch I had calculated that it was a whole day ahead of where we actually are. Anyway it is December and we are well on our way to Sydney.

We have been sprinting (before and after the Ocean Sprint) ever since we left Albany putting us ahead at the time of writing this. The race start at Albany was another confusing time (partly due to a slight blow to the head from the grinder) with a mass of boats moving in different directions along with a number of spectator boats and a very brave loan canoeist paddling around in the middle of it all. I am assured that race starts become clearer the longer you are on board but with the next one being the Sydney to Hobart I think not!

As a new joiner I am fast settling info life on board Garmin. All those personal training sessions at the gym are paying off as I clamber around my new home which is forever at an angle that puts additional challenges in the way of each daily task. If only those Pilates classes could have stretched me a little so I was just a few inches taller I wouldn't have to do 10 minutes of mountaineering just to hang up my wet weather gear.

Now we are firmly in December thoughts on the boat move to the festive season and plans for our time in Sydney. Some of us have been passing time on watch rewriting well known Christmas tunes (not all suitable for this blog) with one especially for our Skipper Ash:

Garmin 12 Days of Christmas (a variation on that well know tune)

On the First Day of Christmas Garmin Crew gave to Ash, a great start from Albany. On the Second Day of Christmas Garmin Crew gave to Ash, two backstays running and a great start from Albany. On the Third Day of Christmas Garmin Crew gave to Ash, three life rafts launching, two backstays running and a great start from Albany. On the Fourth Day of Christmas Garmin Crew gave to Ash, four grinders grinding, three life rafts launching, two backstays running and a great start from Albany. On the Fifth Day of Christmas the Crew gave to Ash, Five Sail Ties. Four Grinders grinding, three life rafts launching, two backstays running and a great start from Albany…

To be continued...

Let’s Go Garmin!
