WOW…. I’ve heard about it. I’ve seen the videos. But nothing prepared me for the absolute sheer joy and exhilaration of surfing down big waves!

We really didn’t know what to expect in the Bay of Biscay, but the downwind surfing was out of this world, watching the huge waves break was absolutely mesmerising. We topped 20 knots, beaming grins all round. Oh, and then on an extra large wave we broached, no doubt our first of many (let’s hope not too many).

No harm done, Skipper to the rescue and back on with our surfing.

Caroline and I sat on deck eating Tunnocks Wafers and laughing our heads off with the sheer wonder of it all, feeling so happy, so privileged to be part of this...oh and I made bread for the first time too!

Not as good as Heather’s bread but it’s work in progress and I was so proud...they ate it!
