I was off watch and I hoped to sleep, but everything went wrong. The wind was always changing. The waves were rough and from every direction. The sails made noise. The winches and the voices of skipper and crew were loud. The words "Grind!", "Hold!" shouted every minute.

Awake in my bunk and something was wrong, I heard two anguished screams of pain. I froze like ice in my bunk. What's happened? Someone is injured? Yes. Hopefully not too badly. However it was a bad moment for everybody and for the courageous crew who came back on their next watch. In my head were imaginations of cut fingers, blood and pain. During our training, we learned how to preserve our fingers, but sometimes mistakes happen, we forget the correct positions. Josh once strapped my two little fingers together in order to train me how to handle the winch safely. This bad night, Josh said "Go back to bed" and really, I prefer that. I am a nurse but retired now and I prefer not to work again. Thankfully, everybody was okay but shaken.

The race continues to Subic Bay but not to China at this point.

To my daughters, all my love. Bisous
