To be honest I wasn't wanting to write this blog. See we were supposed to be in port by now sipping our drinks in air conditioning but instead our mother watch has come back around again thus meaning my time for a blog...

What I have found during this race is that it has been full of compromise and sacrifice. It started in Airlie Beach where our compromise of being able to spend an amazing week around the beautiful great barrier reef, meant having to motor sail 36hrs to clear the reef before the race could finally begin. We then were able to enjoy some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, clear blue sky days, and amazing starry nights but had to sacrifice our sleep because of the incredible heat these clear skies brought. Then came the sacrifice of our (thankfully repairable) Code 3 Spinnaker to allow us to surf waves at 23+kns (well worth it in my opinion!) and now we find ourselves in a race to the finish where we may choose to sacrifice the shortest route to the finish in Subic Bay in search for more favourable winds? So it really has been a race full of compromise and sacrifice.

But then there are our supporters... Our family and friends who's sacrifice in my opinion are much greater than any listed above. See it's our supporters that gain very little yet sacrifice a lot. Personally I know that whilst I've been away snow has fallen at home needing to be shovelled. Breakfasts, Lunches, and Dinners have been prepared and cleaned up after. Kids picked up, dropped off all over the City. Laundry done, garbage and recycling disposed of etc etc. And then there is the sacrifice of being left alone for months with limited contact with your spouse to share your daily life experiences, worry your loved one may get injured, and no idea when they will arrive into Port. See these are the true sacrifices of which without, my and my fellow racers dream of sailing across Oceans would not be possible.

So with that in mind and what I hope will be my last blog I want to thank all my family and friends, especially Deanna, Madison, Emerson & Cassidy for which your daily sacrifice has allowed me to live out this dream xoxo.
