Sat in the galley at 0900 and the world seems alright. I am on Mother Duty with George today and we are fairly well, sat with Ciabatta bread in the oven and everything clean. A simple lunch of tortilla wraps with a selection of cheese, salami or tuna. Anything to avoid turning the oven on! This evening we will be cooking up sirloin steaks supplied by 'Making Life Peachy' as well as extra ratatouille for the vegetarians. George and I will be spud bashing later as we'll be serving up mash and peas.

The victualling job has been full on and brilliant that Jacqui is such a good cook. We enlisted the support of the Admiral (Laurence) which massively helped in Portimão and onwards on this leg. I am sure we'll be doing the same on future legs so don't be shy in volunteering.

Budgets wise we have four pounds per person per day and this is fine.

I am on a victualling WhatsApp group with the rest of the fleet, and know 100% that we are a strong team that are totally supportive of one another, and it has been awesome to know that everyone is right behind us to be running errands, picking up last minute supplies, repacking foodstuffs etc.

We bought 100 bananas five days ago and the last couple had gone black, much as the crew would have liked some more good news, there is no unnecessary wastage.

I have no doubt that we will have forgotten something important and that there will be challenging times ahead on this leg / race, generally as long as we can adapt / improvise / overcome in good humour then all will be fine.

We're lucky to have the chance to do this.

To the oven!!

A very special mention from Tim: Happy birthday to Kim !:)
