How you doin’?

YooYoun from Imagine your Korea again. Have you got the news from the office that the team Imagine your Korea has officially changed their name from Imagine your Korea to “Inbeom, YooYoun, the Koreans”? No, you probably haven’t. Yep, that was bad, ignore this paragraph, this is what a boat does to a person.

On the last blog from our crew James – he referred this race as a miniature of the whole round-the-world race and said we’ve done everything but surfing. Well, as for today, we’ve done literally everything. We’ve surfed in a good 20 to 30 knots of wind basically the whole day.

Just after dinner, us below, who just went down for our off-watch, felt a fair amount of heeling and heard few good flogs of our Code 3 kite. The next thing we heard was someone shouting “Everyone up on deck for the drop!” We rushed up on deck and pulled the screaming sail down from the torturing gust. This time, we could have saved the kite from blowing all the way up like it had been on the last race. Nonetheless, Martin, who was a metre-long rope living in the bowsprit to help us blow the tack, blew himself up and us in the cockpit ended up with the whole blocks and shackles which were supposed to be living further forward. Such good fun sailing. On a boat, the last time you expect something is always the time you get it. Just like me now dedicating all my off-watch to helping recovering the sail and writing this blog. But all these urgent evolutions really do give us a feeling of good teamwork and an excitement of ocean racing. Wonderful night it indeed is.

With all these things happening back to back the whole time, the race have been having a variety of windspeed, seastate, temperature, humidity, and even menu in which has been keeping us constantly focused and interested. Now with just a couple more days expected to finish the race back into Subic, please do keep your fingers crossed for your one and only pink boat on the Race Viewer.

To all my loving friends, family and supporters of Imagine your Korea, I send you my sincere love. I’ve been blessed by your support, from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. Or, should I say, from the top of our mast to the end of our keel. It has been a wonderful journey and indeed the race of my life. I really am looking forward to reinventing my life with all the magical experiences and shining lessons I’ve learnt from it. And definitely cannot wait to share it with you!

With all of my loving heart, YooYoun.
