We’ve passed my home town of Sydney. I gave a little wave to my mother and friends which I’m sure they all saw, despite the land not being visible to us.

The distance to the finish is now less than 1,000 miles and we are entering the final third of the race. Opinions differ as to when we might be arriving in Airlie Beach. Our daily progress has been anywhere from 50 to 300 miles per day so the answer will depend a lot on the wind. The inhouse betting has been on Thursday or Friday, but we will find out soon.

Thierry has a book on cloud formations, including many less common ones and a box for signing off when you’ve seen one. The other day we spotted what we think is a Halo 22 off the bow of CV20, an upper air-light/dark/light halo around the sun, somewhat akin to a rainbow.

I took an ultra-wide-angle picture that I have sent to the Clipper Race Media team. So hopefully you will be able to look out for it. I’m quite proud of it.
