So we have been at sea for 24 days now and we are approaching the end. It seems fitting that as we started the race with numerous windholes, we seem to be ending it with one as well! They can be extremely frustrating as you are at mother nature’s mercy but in true Punta del Este spirit, the morale is still very high.

We had a very successful happy hour today with Pip’s idea of Kara-no-ke, where your watch has to sing-a-long to a semi-well known song and when the music goes quiet you have to continue! Points are awarded for the quality, tune, rhythm + extras of the performance. Today’s music included Waterloo by Abba, Copacabana by Barry Manilow and some Sam Smith songs as well, truly catering to everyone’s tastes. If the outside world ever gets to see the recordings of our attempts of singing, they would do well to remember that we have been at sea for 3.5 weeks and not to judge us too much. We have agreed there will be another round of this in the Phillipines but I think it might be after a few well deserved drinks!

Back to the race and the whole fleet seems to be converging making for a very exciting finish, every knot really counts and the whole crew knows that right now. I have to say that the crew and I are looking forward to standing on terra firma with a beer in hand but we have a race to finish right now so back to the sailing...

Love to all back home!
