Arriving at Gosport Marina with next to no sailing experience seems but a distant memory, and now here I am, beginning what is sure to be a pretty epic 4 months aboard the yellow beast, AKA Punta del Este. The journey begins with a nice short, fast race, covering circa 750nm, giving me a great opportunity to hone those rusty skills, in readiness for the Mighty Pacific. Already its hot. Very hot. As I sit here writing this, I can smell the delights of bangers and mash wafting along the narrow hallway, bringing with it the additional heat from the fired up burners. The crew are taking a moment to chill in readiness for race start. With what would be considered a non-favourable position in the line up for the Le Mans start, only time will tell whether we can forge on and make a podium searching stand from the outset.

That's all for now, as I’ve had the call that dinner is ready… and like I was always taught, you never leave your dinner sat waiting for you!
