Wow, what a fab night watch! This is really fun racing. We’ve been zooming along with the Code 2 (middle-sized spinnaker) flying out in front and had a few 18-19 knot rides over the luminous waves. The stars are out, the half moon is high and I just missed getting smacked in the face by a flying fish – I leant to one side just in time! We had three land in the boat this watch and took turns having to catch them to throw them back to freedom. They don’t half wriggle!

The bread is now rising in the red light of the galley and we’re trying to stash the components for tomorrow’s meals into a cubby hole before they are lost around the boat. It’s amazing how things disappear, never to be seen again. I put an apple on my bunk yesterday with a flat sea. I just turned to one side for a second and when I went to reach for it, it had gone. It has vanished into thin air, incredible!

We’re now heading back to Subic Bay. It’s going to be a tight race to the finish with the light winds we experienced the first time we approached the harbour likely to be similar this time. It would be nice to have a little gust just to take us in nicely but that’s probably just wishful thinking!
