Crew Diary - ​The end is near…
14 February

It’s just hours until we arrive in the Philippines. Sadly that also means that the Race of my Life is soon over. This race has turned out to be so much more than I expected. Luckily I’ve still got a couple of weeks to go but since this will be my last blog I will use the opportunity to tribute this to all of my crew-mates and the wonderful people I’ve met during my 3 legs journey, and almost 4 months at sea.

Naturally there are some people I’ve got to know better, and had a bigger impact on me on this boat.

Sandra, you bring so much laughter. Thank you for our time together both on land and at sea. Showing girl power and introducing me to the five min muck-up rule. Looking forward to your visit to Oslo :-)

Alex, thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone and especially when I was on my low point thinking I was useless on the helm: Aser, I know you can do this, come on let’s do it some more. The next minute we surfed down a 6 metre wave and I felt like I was on the top of my life :D Woopa!!

Danny, all your good sarcastic humour, such a good storyteller and smiley personality.

Dan, keep up your good leadership as a watch leader.

Andrew, thank you for all the good times on our last watch together, for laughing at my humour. I love how I can be myself together with you.

Lastly, I want to give a special thank you to AQP Mike (Mr. Happy face) for all your coaching and guidance, for all you have taught me and for the person you are. Without you I would not have learned as much as I have. Love your sarcastic comments on my hopelessness. Who else could say, I’m just gonna leave you here here at the helm by yourself, for five minutes so you can spend some time being disappointed at yourself. LOL

You make such a big difference to the crew!
