OneDLL and Qingdao have arrived in San Francisco after crossing the Pacific Ocean in the race from Qingdao, China.

OneDLL crossed the line in fourth position at 12:56:00 UTC, passing under the Golden Gate Bridge in heavy fog.

“It feels amazing to be in San Francisco. I am really proud of the guys, it’s been a really long race – it feels like we have been racing since Singapore,” explained skipper, Olly Cotterell upon arrival.

“It was an amazing race in so many ways, the fog when we left Qingdao the low round the south of Japan, the next low that tracked quite far south and tactically it was all very varied.

“We put in a solid performance and were very busy obviously lots went on, I’m really proud of the guys they have done an amazing job they gave everything and in contention with the front runners so I couldn’t be happier,” continued Olly.

Qingdao was not far behind and crossed under the Race 10 finish line, the Golden Gate Bridge at 01:21:00 UTC.

Gareth Glover, was pleased to be on dry land after an eventful Pacific crossing with his yacht being struck by lighting.

“It’s great to be here in San Francisco for the second time in the Clipper Race, I came here in the last race and we were doing 25 knots under the Golden Gate Bridge. This time it was a little different when we got there so it’s great to have arrived.

“In the last 300 miles the teams pushed quite hard together and we all ended up in the mini wind hole where we were less than 20 miles from GREAT Britain. Everyone compressed from there then the wind filled in and we got left behind and just missed out to OneDLL. At that point they had a 100-mile lead on us and were pretty uncatchable – we took it easy and raced in.”
