On one hand there is a real sense of achievement having made it across the Race 8A finish line first, on the other hand it is rather meaningless as it is just a pause in the race and no actual points have been earned. Race 8A pushed my patience to the limit. It was a real struggle and at times it felt like we could not make any progress towards the finish nor make any gains on the boats around us. In the end we did have just enough patience to stick with the leaders until an opportunity came to make a move, one we took with all enthusiasm to capitalize on the situation. With the finishing times so close and Race 8B looming on the horizon, the overall Race 8 victory for the Old Pulteney Navigator Cup is really still anyone's race to win.
