Olly Cotterell – OneDLL
This is not your average coastal channel race, as we now have thick fog! After a hard nights work and dodging some wind holes we came out in the front of the fleet hot on the tales of Henri Lloyd andDerry~Londonderry~Doire.
We soon left the English Coast and were heading across to France when the whole fleet was hit by a lack of wind. I elected to anchor in 40 metres of water to stop us from heading in the wrong direction with the tide. This is a tactic that worked very well for Derry~Londonderry~Doire. Despite checking the charts it became very clear when we tried to lift the anchor that it was caught on something.
Instead of taking 15 minutes to get the anchor up we were trying for a few hours. When we finally got it to the surface with a great team effort it had a massive discarded cable on it. This took more time to free. Unfortunately this incident has had a negative impact on our fleet position. On the bright side the team worked really well together and really hard to solve the problem and we are now back underway, be it in thick fog, chasing down the fleet. Go 3, 2, OneDLL!
