It was a really hard race, we decided to go for the Rhumb Line tactically, which worked really well for us for two thirds of the race. We tried to pick a lane that was more advantageous, but unfortunately the wind filled in across the board so the teams further south had the same problems as us. We relinquished our lead of the race which we held for the majority of the race. It was a pretty tough race but the team sailed really well, and completed each evolution effortlessly. Infact they are so good now that I’m starting to be made slightly redundant and they are doing things without my input.
The whole team will be looking forward to a well deserved rest in Cape Town. Looking ahead to Leg 3, I’ve already done the passage plan. This is the one we really want to win. We want to break the curse of never winning into a home port and as an Australian, it will mean everything to win.
