'All Right'. With less than 50 miles to go to the finish line this will be my last blog of this race. The boats in front have finished and the boats behind are too far back to present a problem so we are guaranteed tenth place. This is disappointing and I was certainly hoping for a much better result on this race. However it has nothing to do with how the crew have sailed the boat, on the contrary, I think we have sailed very well and consistently matched, if not bettered, other boats’ performances’ in the same wind.
At the end of the day it comes down to tactics. I made the decision to stay north and go for the Scoring Gate which, at the time, looked like a good call but the weather didn't pan out quite as forecast. We got three points from the Scoring Gate so that's one bonus at least. The crew have developed tremendously and are becoming seasoned ocean racers.
Thank you to everyone for your support, it is very much appreciated. Bring on the next leg, after a short interlude and rest in Cape Town.
Until the next time.
