Welcome readers, to Leg 3 - it promises to be quite an adventure from the forecast I have seen.
Whilst we bask in soft winds for the next day or so, the crew onboard can settle back into life at sea and reflect on the Cape Town stopover, before the windy stuff starts!
The start from Cape Town under the shadows of Table Mountain was breath-taking, the weather perfect and the start as exciting as ever. You only get this on the Clipper Race; what an opportunity and a day to remember for all.
Switzerland crew have been working hard in the stopover to "Southern Ocean-proof Heidi" which has involved a long list of jobs and modifications to make her even more hardy for our Leg 3 dive south again. Thanks to all our family and supporters in Cape Town, including Mercy Ships, our Boat Sponsor, who kindly helped us with transporting our victuallers and shopping and gave us with plenty of local knowledge. We are pleased to learn that the Mercy Ships "Saving lives every leg" initiative has raised an incredible amount of money so far and that three complex yet life changing surgeries can be performed thanks to the donations. Till tomorrow folks,
With love from the raring to go crew of Switzerland
