It’s been a sunny first 36 hours at sea for the crew on board Switzerland but this morning’s dawn looks a lot more ominous, with a few sun streaks coming in through low grey clouds, marching with purpose at our little boat.
Yesterday was a day of light wind and we spent it racing against four other boats who were all within eyesight. OneDLL, GREAT Britain, Old Pulteney and Derry~Londonderry~Doire were all in the same patch of ocean, making gains and losses in the fickle breeze. It was an exciting and frustrating day in equal measures!
We also spent it preparing a few last things for our Leg 3 and drilled some of our emergency routines (which also doubled up as the evening’s entertainment because watching the rescue swimmers getting into their immersion suits in sub three minutes can be quite a spectator sport!)
Well the wind is building so I’m off on deck to see what’s what.
