The home run...

The perfect sailing conditions continue as we straight line for the finish, our weather routing taking us within a whisker of the great circle route, only a small deviation together with a gybe lies between us and the finish of Leg 3.

Every hour marks a further 10 or 11 knots to our distance travelled as we compare our progress with CV22, Seattle a mere 90 miles to our north. There is the not so inconsequential matter of a "windhole" to negotiate in the region of our expected gybe, subject to the arrival of the high pressure in some 325 nautical miles time. Would The Clipper Race be complete without one?! We are currently ahead of our weather routing by approximately one hour, whether is has any bearing on our situation remains to be seen.

The mood aboard is high, spirits are lifted, our speed towards Fremantle appears not to be compromised by our "winged" mainsail, provided we sail free of the breeze which should remain so until the final miles of the race.

Fremantle, 625 miles to go!
